About/Design
First, before all things, I am a mom. Raziel, my son, is 6 and my little daughter Rajani is 2. They are the inspiration for all of my creations. I taught myself to sew after Raziel was born, in ‘02. Always the artist I realized sewing could be art as well. I found a way to express my artistic self thru bold colors, distinctive designs, and appliqué. I edged all of my slings in contrasting fabric. Sarita Star Designs was born! My talent developed into more elaborate appliqués, most created on a one of a kind basis. I pride myself on handcrafting every part of my sling, and of course my mad appliqué skills
… from the edging to the original artwork translation to appliqué, I just really love what I do.

Sara, I just wanted to tell you how awesome I think you are doing. I had you make me a sling for my second son in 05 in Flagstaff and I got it out to let a friend borrow but couldn’t find the info packet to help her learn how to wear it so I looked you up and wow! You are such an artist!
You’re work is so lovely. Such nice expression in such simple shapes. I love the graphic quality you have achieved. Your work elevates applique to a new level. I am a costume designer but interested in all aspects of textile design, so thanks for sharing.
